A DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS

These are trips that can be easily made in a day's time.

 

GEORGIA

West Central Georgia (near Warm Springs): Hike the Pine Mountain Trail and bag 4 small but beautiful flowing waterfalls and 1 dry fall (just add water). (Warm Springs-Pine Mountain Area Pgs. 3-6.)

Northwest Georgia (near LaFayette): Visit Cloudland Canyon State Park and see 4 waterfalls (moderate-difficult hikes). If time permits check out the stunning, Falls on Pocket Branch (see this one after rainfall). (LaFayette Area Pg. 7.)

North Central Georgia (near Dahlonega): Visit Desoto Falls Scenic Area (2) waterfalls, Vogel State Park (Trahlyta Falls), and Helton Creek Falls. (Turners Corner Area Pg. 53.)

North Central Georgia (near Helen): Visit Anna Ruby Falls and a multitude of others contained in the book. (Helen-Hiawassee Area Pg. 63.)

Northeast Georgia (near Clayton): The Falls in the Lake Rabun Area. (Clayton West Pg. 80)

Northeast Georgia (in the community of Tallulah Falls): Visit Tallulah Gorge State Park and see 5 waterfalls and the gorge's massive cliffs. (Tallulah Falls Area Pgs. 99-105.)

Northeast Georgia (near Clayton): The Falls along Warwoman Rd. (Clayton East Pg. 112).

Northeast Alabama: Fort Payne-Mentone Area (DeSoto State Park-Little River Canyon Pg. 147).
